Digital photography has taken over! Go into any camera shop and try buying a film camera! Many manufacturers no longer produce film SLR's and there are now just a handful of film cameras available.

This is a good thing - digital cameras have become affordable with quality that matched film in just about every way. The big difference being that YOU can now process your images with nothing more than a PC and some basic photo software.

But this advantage does require some skills and knowledge  and I'm adding to this site articles to assist you. Currently, there are articles on:

Histograms

What the are and how to use them.

Depth of field

How to get the best quality images from your digital SLR with sufficient depth of field. Includes a simple to use depth of field calculator.

Lens Tests

We want the best lenses we can get for our cameras, but can you trust the reviews?

HDR - High Dynamic Range photography.

This has got to be one of the hottest topics in digital photography at the moment. Properly used, HDR can produce images that were simply impossible a few years ago. Improperly used and the images look terrible. The current article explains how to  get the best from HDR and the popular Photomatix software.

FREE Digital Photo Software

Digital photography really needs decent software to get the best from it. And it doesn't have to cost the earth either. I offer FREE digital photo software for image browsing, RAW conversion, Automatic Web Image creation and Artistic Effect. Feel free to download! (Windows only).
